Initial work, December 4, 2022:

Group Exercise Identified:

  • Bold Initiatives
    • Diversity of Housing Types
    • Multi-Income Housing
    • Outreach to Underserved Communities about Housing
    • Housing Element, add a Goal or Policy (Comprehensive plan)
    • Outdoor Rec Orientation
    • Veteran Housing
    • Foster Multi-Cultural Neighborhoods
    • "Gig" Workforce Housing for serving Seasonal Economy

Committee Discussion:

  • Educational campaign focused on city officials (elected) to get affordable housing on their radar not only for awareness but more for commitment to public land use and financial decisions to support solutions. If we are to build units to solve the problem council members must support land use decisions whether they are site selection, density, building height, fee waivers or any other issue that is key to putting units on the ground. It is one thing to empathize, another thing totally to vote to support a brick and mortar project.
  • Produce workforce rental housing which is multi-cultural and a stop gap prevention measure to avoid homelessness. Gain the support of our business community to engage with councilmembers and advocate for rental workforce housing solutions to be built in our Valley communities.
